This is a replacement built-up 30 ton capacity chiller. This was an extremely challenging project. The original chiller package was intalled in an upstairs boiler room prior to completion of the building. During the hottest part of the season the compressor on the original chiller failed. The client wanted to upgrade to a new roof mounted chiller but didn't want to wait a month for delivery. The decision was made to install a new compressor for the remainder of the cooling season and then replace the other components in the off season. The cost was slightly higher than a new packaged unit; however the down time was only a few days verses a month or more. All the old equipment was cut apart and removed, a new frame was built to hold the new compressor, brazed plate, control panel and all accessories. Everything was upgraded to electronic control allowing for a capacity range of 6 tons to 30 tons.
